Anti-Cytokeratin 1 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Cytokeratin 1 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the KRT1 gene, which encodes keratin 1. This protein is known to function in the response to oxidative stress, among other biological roles. The human version of Cytokeratin 1 has a canonical amino acid length of 644 residues and a protein mass of 66 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the cell membrane and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the vagina, skin, oral mucosa, esophagus, and cervix. Other names for this target antigen include AEI2, CK1, and EHK. Some Cytokeratin 1 antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Immunohistochemistry is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA and Western Blot are also common applications.
