Glutathione S-transferases, or GSTs, are a family of enzymes that conjugate glutathione to xenobiotic compounds for detoxification. The GST epitope tag utilizes the enzyme’s strong affinity for glutathione in order to detect and purify GST-tagged proteins. Anti-GST antibodies recognize the peptide tag which contains 220 residues and has a mass of about 26 kDa.
