Anti-Porimin antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Porimin antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the TMEM123 gene, which encodes transmembrane protein 123. This protein is known to be implicated in oncotic cell death, characterized by cell swelling, organelle swelling, vacuolization and increased membrane permeability. The human version of Porimin has a canonical amino acid length of 208 residues and a protein mass of 21.5 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the membrane of cells. Other names for this target antigen include KCT-3 and keratinocytes associated transmembrane protein 3.
