Anti-SGCD antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein sarcoglycan delta. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 289 amino acid residues and a mass of 32.1 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 3 different isoforms for this protein. A member of a the Sarcoglycan beta/delta/gamma/zeta protein family, SGCD is a known component of the sarcoglycan complex, a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex which forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include CMD1L, DAGD, LGMDR6, SG-delta, SGCDP, SGD, delta-sarcoglycan, and 35DAG.
