Anti-DS antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target DS is a known alias name of the protein deoxyhypusine synthase, encoded by the DHPS gene in humans. This 369-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the NAD-dependent oxidative cleavage of spermidine and the subsequent transfer of the butylamine moiety of spermidine to the epsilon-amino group of a critical lysine residue of the eIF-5A precursor protein to form the intermediate deoxyhypusine residue. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the adrenal gland and bronchus.
