Anti-ASB16 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ankyrin repeat and SOCS box containing 16. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 453 amino acid residues and a mass of 49.6 kDa. It is notably expressed in many tissues, such as the cerebral cortex, testis, and bronchus. A member of the Ankyrin SOCS box (ASB) protein family, ASB16 is believed to be a substrate-recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Synonyms for this target antigen include ankyrin repeat and SOCS box protein 16 and ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing protein 16. ASB16 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish and chimpanzee species.
