Anti-FADS5 antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The FADS5 antigen is another term for the human protein stearoyl-CoA desaturase, encoded by the SCD gene. The protein is reported to be a Stearoyl-CoA desaturase that utilizes O(2) and electrons from reduced cytochrome b5 to introduce the first double bond into saturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 359 residues and a mass of 41.5 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the ER and it is notably expressed in fetal liver, lung and brain. The FADS5 protein is a member of the Fatty acid desaturase type 1 protein family. Other alias names for FADS5 include MSTP008 and SCD1. Western Blot is the most common application for the FADS5 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
