Anti-CEase antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CEase is a known alias name of the protein carboxyl ester lipase, encoded by the CEL gene in humans. This 753-amino acid residue protein is known to catalyze the hydrolysis of a wide range of substrates including cholesteryl esters, phospholipids, lysophospholipids, di- and tri-acylglycerols, and fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFAs). The protein is secreted and features O-glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in the stomach, pancreas, and lactating breast. Other synonyms for CEase include BAL, BSDL, and BSSL. Western Blot is the most common application for the CEase antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
