Anti-GALNACT5 antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the GALNACT5 antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the GALNT5 gene, which encodes polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 5. This protein is known to catalyze the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. The human version of GALNACT5 has a canonical amino acid length of 940 residues and a protein mass of 106.3 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the Golgi of cells and notably expressed in many tissues, such as the appendix and colon. This target antigen may also be known as GALNAC-T5.
