Anti-AltPrP antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the AltPrP antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PRNP gene, which encodes prion protein. This protein is known to function in the cell cycle and the regulation of apoptosis, among other biological roles. The human version of AltPrP has a canonical amino acid length of 253 residues and a protein mass of 27.7 kilodaltons. It is reported to be localized in the Golgi and cell membrane of cells and notably expressed in the skin, colon, cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and caudate. Other names for this target antigen include ASCR and CD230. Western Blot is the most common application for the AltPrP antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
