Anti-TAM antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target TAM is a known alias name of the protein stromal interaction molecule 1, encoded by the STIM1 gene in humans. This 685-amino acid residue protein is reported to play a role in mediating store-operated Ca(2+) entry (SOCE), a Ca(2+) influx following depletion of intracellular Ca(2+) stores. It is localized to the cell membrane, ER, and cytoplasm of the cell and features glycosylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is widely expressed across many tissue types.
