Stoelting
Motorized Stereotaxic Injector

The focus of our laboratory is to understand the function of the cerebellum in health and disease. Using the Stoelting motorized stereotacix injector, we frequently perform injections of adeno-associated viral vectors that encode optogenetic tools or shRNAs for different proteins.

Stereotaxic surgeries must be performed in accordance with your animal protocol. Using touchscreen, enter the inner diameter of the syringe you will use for the injection. The screen has a library in which you can look up the I.D. of Hamilton syringes. Enter the amount and rate at which you would like to inject. Set MODE to INFUSE. Insert syringe into holder. Using the arrows on the left side of the screen, withdraw the volume you would like to inject. We pipette the virus onto a piece of parafilm and watch the withdrawal under the microscope. Then, eject until you see a small drop of virus on the tip of the syringe. Using your stereotaxic equipment, place syringe at injection location and press START.
Set a timer for yourself. The machine does not beep when the injection has finished.
The Stoelting microinjection system allows you to inject very small volumes at precise locations in the brain. Our laboratory performs multiple microinjectons each day, and this piece of equipment has performed well for at least 5 years.
Touch screen with library to look up syringe I.D, allows you to inject range of volumes, including very small volumes, at a range of speeds.

This is great system for stereotaxic microinjections. Our system has been used very frequently and still performs well.
