NECAP2 (NECAP Endocytosis Associated 2) is a Protein Coding gene. The NECAP2 gene, located on 1p36.13, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, C.elegans, M.oryzae, N.crassa, A.thaliana, rice, and frog. An important paralog of this gene is NECAP1. The NECAP2 gene likely encodes a member of the adaptin-ear-binding coat-associated protein family. Studies of a similar protein in rats suggest a role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. 4 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. NECAP2 is widely expressed in the lymph node, spleen, and other tissues.
