ELISA Microplates

ELISA microplates are empty plastic microtiter plates that enable ELISA and other immunoassays to be carried out on multiple samples simultaneously. Plates are available in a variety of formats, such as 96-well, 384-well, strip plates, and single-break strip plates. They are generally flat-bottomed and made of polystyrene, a highly transparent plastic that is ideal for optical measurements. Some are available as pre-coated plates, with wells that are bound to compounds such as IgG, glutathione, biotin, and streptavidin. Plate coating, an important step in the ELISA process, is based on passive adsorption to the microplate due to physiochemical forces like hydrophobic bonds and H-bonding.
