TCEP

TCEP (Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine) is a tricarboxylic acid phosphine derivative that is used as a reducing agent. With a molecular formula of C9H15O6P, TCEP is often prepared and used as a hydrochloride salt. It is water-soluble and can be immobilized onto agarose. It functions as a reducing agent by breaking the disulfide bonds of proteins and is useful for preparing samples for gel electrophoresis. It can be used as a chelating agent for heavy metal ions as Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), and Ni(II), in mass spectrometry and as a reagent for the selective reduction of disulfides in water. TCEP is also used for labeling cysteine residues with maleimides and for tissue homogenization during RNA isolation. Visit the supplier page for more product information.
