Endonuclease V

Endonuclease V is an enzyme found in E. coli that is involved in DNA repair. It recognizes deoxyinosine, a deamination product of deoxyadenosine in DNA, and is therefore also known as deoxyinosine 3´ endonuclease. Endonuclease V cleaves the second and third phosphodiester bonds 3´ to the mismatch of deoxyinosine, leaving a nick with 3´-hydroxyl and 5´-phosphate. Its activity has also been reported on apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) sites, urea, mismatches, hairpins, loops, and pseudo-Y structures. As it does not remove the deoxyinsoine or the damaged bases, it is believed that Endonuclease V needs the assistance of another protein to repair the DNA. It can be used for the cleavage of oligonucleotides containing deoxyinosine and for mismatch cleavage. Visit the supplier page for more enzyme information.
