Topoisomerase II

The topoisomerase II enzyme subfamily is involved in modifying DNA topology, especially during transcription and DNA replication. Type II topoisomerases cut both strands of DNA simultaneously, with the hydrolysis of ATP and change the linking number of circular DNA by 2. There are 2 subclasses of topoisomerase II: type IIA and IIB. Type IIA topoisomerases can form double-stranded breaks with four-base pair overhangs, while type IIB topoisomerases form double-stranded breaks with two base overhangs. Topoisomerase II has been targeted in anticancer therapies. Visit the supplier page for more product information, including units of activity.
