HAT Assay Kits

HAT assay kits are used to measure the enzymatic activity of histone acetyltransferases (HAT) in biological samples. HATs are epigenetic enzymes that acetylate lysine residues of cellular proteins such as histones, thereby regulating gene expression. Some HAT assays utilize the addition of histone substrates, which will be acetylated in the presence of HATs. Others incorporate substrates that react with HATs to generate dye-reactive products. The generated fluorescent or colorimetric signals will then be proportional to the activity of HATs in the sample. HAT assay kits can be used to observe the inhibitory effect of substances on HATs and to study epigenetics, proteomics, and genomics.
