ROS Assay Kits

ROS assay kits are available from several suppliers for observing oxidative stress or damage in cells and tissues. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are generated at low levels during normal metabolic processes but are elevated under processes such as oxidative stress, apoptosis, aging, and disease. ROS include peroxides, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxides, among others. Abnormal ROS activity results in damage to nucleic acids, proteins, and membranes. The mechanism of each ROS assay can vary depending on the target molecule. Methods of detection often employ fluorescence probes. ROS assay kits can be used to detect conditions of hypoxia, cellular stress, and for studying disease pathways, such as in cancer, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.
