Destaining Reagents

Staining by Coomassie Blue is a key step in visualizing proteins following protein electrophoresis, either via SDS-PAGE or native PAGE. The typical destaining procedure involves soaking the stained polyacrylamide gel with agitation. The duration of the destaining can vary depending on the intensity of the stain and the desired sensitivity. Longer destaining can distinguish smaller amounts of proteins.
