Chemiluminescent HRP Substrate

Chemiluminescent substrates for horseradish peroxidase (HRP) are important tools in the immunodetection of target proteins and antigens, particularly in Western blotting. Substrates such as ECL (Enhanced Chemiluminescence) function by producing light in the presence of HRP and hydrogen peroxide. The light produced is proportional to the amount of HRP-labeled antibodies, providing an indirect method of measuring the amount of target protein. The sensitivity of ECL typically can accommodate antigen in the picogram amounts, but other variations may detect at the femtogram levels.
