Description
Lysosomal Associated Membrane Protein 2, encoded by the LAMP2 gene in rabbits, is also referred to as CD107b (Cluster of Differentiation 107b) and Mac-3. Together, LAMP1 and LAMP2 constitute approximately 50% of lysosomal membrane glycoproteins. In rabbits, Lysosomal Associated Membrane Protein 2 deficiency is closely associated with the development of inflammatory diseases such as periodontitis. It has been found that LAMP-2 deficiency leads to decreased phagocytosis of neutrophils, which is unable to effectively remove pathogens, thus triggering destruction of periodontal tissues
