Description
Retinol-binding protein 4 is a protein responsible for mediating retinol transport in blood plasma. It facilitates the delivery of retinol from liver stores to peripheral tissues. This protein transfers the bound all-trans retinol to STRA6, which then aids in the transport of retinol across the cell membrane. In rabbits, it is encoded by the RBP4 gene. Although there is no direct evidence of the specific function of RBP4 in rabbits, it can be speculated that it may be involved in vitamin A transport, fat metabolism, and regulatory effects associated with metabolic diseases
