Description
A 5-HT6 receptor agonist; selectively binds to 5-HT6 (Ki = 31 nM) over 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B, 5-HT1D, 5-HT2A, 5-HT2B, 5-HT2C, 5-HT3, 5-HT4, 5-HT5A, and SERT (Kis = >1,000 nM for all) but also binds to the 5-HT7 receptor (Ki = 168 nM); induces cAMP accumulation in BHK fibroblasts (EC50 = 16 nM); decreases the basal firing rate of dopaminergic neurons in the ventral tegmental area but not substantia nigra pars compacta in rats; prevents stress-induced decreases in vanilla sugar-sustained appetitive behavior, indicating anti-anhedonic-like activity, in rats at 10 and 30 mg/kg; induces self-administration in rats at 1 mg/kg
