Description
Ethyl 4-[(2-oxohexadecanoyl)amino]butanoate (AX 048) is a PLA2 (Phospholipase A2) and PGE2 (Prostaglandin E2) inhibitor. PLA2 is known as calcium-dependent cytosolic PLA2 (cPLA2), which selectively releases arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids. It plays a central role in initiating the synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This compound also contains a specific affinity for group IVA cPLA2 which moderates antihyperalgesia effects
