Description

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) are collected in HemaCare's FDA-registered collection centers following cGMP and cGTP collection guidelines from IRB consented healthy human volunteer donors by leukapheresis using the COBE® Spectra Apheresis System MNC collection protocol. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) are obtained from a leukapheresis product purified by a density gradient centrifugation and are available in fresh or cryopreserved format. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) are also available fresh directly from a LeukoPak. Apheresis-derived mononuclear cells are highly purified, containing a more pure population of mononuclear cells when compared to buffy coat.

A mononuclear cell is any cell that has a single round nucleus; examples of a mononuclear cell are lymphocytes, monocytes, and dendritic cells. These cells are critical components of the immune system which are involved in both humoral and cell-mediated immunity. The mononuclear cell is a widely used product in research and clinical applications such as in microbiology, virology, oncology, vaccine development, transplant and regenerative biology, and toxicology
