E Coli JM109 Competent Cells are a recA- and endA- all purpose K-strain reagent intended to minimize recombination and improve plasmid DNA quality. These cells carry the F' episome so they are usable in blue/white screening.
Genotype: endA1, recA1, gyrA96, thi, hsdR17 (rk-, mk+), relA1, supE44, delta(lac-proAB), [F' traD36, proAB, laqIqZdeltaM15].
For greater transformation efficiencies heat shock at 37C for 1 minute before plating, or heat shock at 42C for 30 seconds then add SOC media and shake at 225 rpm at 37C for 1 hour before plating. Conveniently supplied as a pack of 10 single use 0.1 ml aliquots
