Description

Primary human urethral epithelial cells were isolated and immortalized with the recombinant retrovirus vector pLXSN containing the HPV16 E6E7 oncogenes to achieve the generation of the Immortalized Human Urethral Epithelial Cells. The cells have telometric activity, and expresses cytokeratins 13 and 16 markers and the ASGP-R (asialoglycoprotein) receptor. The immortalized cells retained the primary phenotypes when compared to the primary cells. Immortalized Human Urethral Epithelial Cells are an unlimited source of tissue culture urethral epithelial cells for downstream applications. It may be used to study the urethral epithelium and possible investigations in pathogenesis in the urethra
