TAFA proteins are a newly discovered family of proteins, which are distantly related to MIP-1a, a member of the CC-chemokine family. TAFA mRNAs are highly expressed in specific brain regions, and have also been found to be expressed by lung basophils. The biological function of TAFA-2 is still unknown
