A peptide plasma membrane Ca2+/Mg2+-ATPase inhibitor (IC50 = 0.4 mM in erythrocyte leaky ghosts); selective for the plasma membrane Ca2+/Mg2+-ATPase over the erythrocyte ghost Mg2+- and Na+/K+-ATPases and the skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+/Mg2+-ATPase at 0.9 mM; induces relaxation in precontracted rat aortic rings at 0.34 mM, an effect that can be reversed by L-NAME
