ALOX5 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase, which is encoded by the ALOX5 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the oxygenation of arachidonate ((5Z,8Z,11Z,14Z)-eicosatetraenoate) to 5-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoate (5-HPETE) followed by the dehydration to 5,6- epoxyeicosatetraenoate (Leukotriene A4/LTA4), the first two steps in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes, which are potent mediators of inflammation. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 674 residues, a mass of 78 kDa, and is a member of the Lipoxygenase protein family. It is known to be localized in the membrane, nucleus, and cytoplasm. As many as 5 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally phosphorylated. Other alias names for this target include 5-LOX, 5LPG, LOG5, polyunsaturated fatty acid 5-lipoxygenase, LOX-5, and 5-LO.
The detection range for different ALOX5 ELISA kits can vary, with some assays measuring target concentrations as low as 31.25 pg/mL and as high as 100 ng/mL. Click on the products below for more detailed ELISA kit information, such as target reactivity and assay sensitivity.
