Anti-NYD-SP8 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target NYD-SP8 is a known alias name of the protein testis expressed 101, encoded by the TEX101 gene in humans. This 249-amino acid residue protein is reported to play a role in fertilization by controlling binding of sperm to zona pellucida and migration of spermatozoa into the oviduct (By similarity). It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles, cell membrane, and is secreted of the cell and features N-glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the testis and spermatogonia.
