Anti-actin alpha 2, smooth muscle, aorta antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target actin alpha 2, smooth muscle, aorta is a known alias name of the protein actin alpha 2, smooth muscle, encoded by the ACTA2 gene in humans. This 377-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the regulation of the ERK1 and ERK2 signaling cascade and the regulation of gene expression, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell and features methylated, acetylated and cleaved post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the appendix and breast.
