The Best Drug Discovery Product 2010, FLUOstar Omega, is a multi-mode microplate reader featuring BMG LABTECH's unique Tandem Technology . It utilizes high speed UV/Vis spectrometer based absorbance and ultra sensitive filter-based detection in all detection modes such as:

Advanced Assay Technology Package for the FLUOstar Omega:
BMG LABTECH engineers have designed a specialized measurement mode and optical system to provide the Omega multimode microplate readers with AlphaScreen® / AlphaLISA® performance that rivals any HTS microplate reader. For the first time, experience fantastic AlphaScreen® / AlphaLISA® performance on a mid-range multi-mode microplate reader. Furthermore, Advanced Performance TRF is part of the Omega's optional Advanced Assay Technology Package. It utilizes an optional high-end TRF optical reading head that incorporates an assay specific dichroic mirror. Combined with the high intensity xenon flash lamp, assay optimized filters and adjustable gain, the Omega high-end TRF reading head allows the Omega to outperform any microplate reader in the mid-range market.

Gas Control Features:
The optional Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU) offers exceptional O₂ and CO₂ regulation. The microprocessor controlled ACU fully regulates O₂ and CO₂ within the microplate reader allowing you to select the concentrations that match your required physiological conditions. The ACU adjusts the two gases independently, ensuring that any combination can be easily programmed; thus making it unnecessary to change cylinders or piped gas supplies. In combination with extended temperature control up to 65°C and unrivalled shaking options (orbital, linear, double orbital, variable speed), the ACU provides a true ‘walk away’ solution for e.g. long term cell based assays.

Upgrades:
The Omega microplate reader series has a modular design concept. This enables the FLUOstar Omega to be fully upgraded to the powerful POLARstar Omega, which can additionally perform Simultaneous Dual Emission and fluorescence polarization detection.

Software:
The powerful MARS Data Analysis Software displays and analyzes endpoint, kinetic and spectral data through comprehensive data reduction algorithms and various curve fitting options. Up to 384 complete spectra or kinetic curves can be viewed individually or overlaid. For further data processing, results can be easily exported to Microsoft Excel™. The software package is Windows™ Vista and 7 compatible and is compliant with FDA 21CFR part 11 regulation.
