Company:

Beckman Coulter

Product Name:

Flow-Set™ Pro Fluorospheres

Catalog Number:

A69184

Beckman Coulter made these beads for standardization of assays, and maybe of instruments as well. Standardization is of course a very important part of flow cytometry and is a very good practice for research and clinical labs alike.

Tips

These beads are also good for monitoring the PMT voltages from day to day!

Results Summary

The beads work well for small (2-5 color) assays, e.g., Tetra applications. However, for larger, more complex assays (10 color), it becomes cumbersome and quite impractical to use them daily in the standardization process.

Summary

The Good

Easy to use - no dilution required (supplied in dropper)

The Bad

Expensive and expire quickly.

The Bottom Line

These are useful beads for standardization. However, each user must decide which assays to use them for, and how often do they need to be run. Otherwise, labs can use them for simple monitoring of PMTVs daily.
