Trypan Blue is most commonly used as a cell stain solution in order to quickly identify the viability of the cell culture. It is a must in any lab. We use this particular dye in a variety of cell lines and also during PBMCs isolation. This dye works as a principle of exclusion, meaning dead cells take up the dye and color blue, and live cells are permeable to it, which is clearly visible while counting. As an example for common cell lines such as VERO cells: first cells are lysed with a trypsin mixture and resuspended in medium, then equal parts of cell suspension and of Trypan blue are mixed in an eppendorf tube from which 10.5 microliters are pipetted into a counting chamber by Invitrogen (filling it to perfection).
Cell counting
N/A
For an Invitrogen counting chamber use 10.5 microliters to fill up the chamber.
Great dye to have in the lab, specially if cell culture is a routine.
Easy to use, not expensive because no need for big amounts, it stores greatly at room temperature in a cabinet for months without it having a negative effect on the dye.
Nothing
Definitely recommend.
