Product Name:

β-Actin (D6A8) Rabbit mAb

Catalog Number:

8457

We routinely perform western blots for all types of cells (macrophages, tumor, T cells). To normalize total protein content in certain experiments, we use actin as a control in our blots. This is a nice antibody with great specificity.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Applications

Western Blot

Sample

Murine macrophages

Primary Incubation

1:10000 in 4% BSA/TBST

Blocking Agent

5% dry milk/TBST

Secondary Incubation

1:5000 Rabbit IgG HRP in 5% dry milk/TBST

Tertiary Incubation

None

Detection

Invitrogen ECL Pico

Results Summary

We are able to detect total beta-Actin levels in our lysates. The signal is quite strong since we detect it within seconds of exposure.

DOI or PMID #

Additional Notes

Be aware, the antibody is not best to reuse after 5 times or so since signal fades fast.

Summary

The Good

Strong signal within seconds if antibody is more fresh but not too bad since 1:1000 dilution

The Bad

Can't reuse antibody mix many times

The Bottom Line

Nice antibody to detect beta-Actin for a loading control. Great specificity also!
