CFX96 Touch™ Real-Time PCR

Catalog Number:

Our lab bought one CFX96 Touch two years ago and I have to say that we have been very happy with it. One of the main advantages of this machine is the open platform, so you may choose whatever consumables/plastics you may find on your market. This has saved us quite a lot of money on reagents in the long run since the original consumables generally have higher prices. Like the modern machines, it comes with LEDs. This surely will save you the cost of buying replacement lamps. For this thermocycler, it is not necessary to use passive reference fluorescence such as ROX. A big pro for this system is that it can also work stand alone (however, we use it connected to a computer). The software provided with it is okay. I don't see any difference from the ones from other big companies such as Thermo or QIAGEN. However, it has the big advantage that it is totally free so you can install it on any computer you need. It can also send the result files directly to an email account if PC is connected to internet. We usually use this function to back up all data. Overall, it is a good system with a decent cost-to-value ratio.
