DeNovix DS-11 Spectrophotometer

In our lab we perform a lot of molecular biology and protein expressions. The DS-11 spectrophotometer is really great for measuring DNA/RNA/ and protein concentrations. The fact that it has an easy to use interface makes it fun to use. For example, it is easy to switch between DNA and protein concentrations. The DNA concentration has an auto measure capability so all you do is quickly kim wipe the nano drop and place your sample (.5 to 2 ul). The same rules apply for protein concentration. As long as you know what the molecular weight and extinction coefficient is then it can calculate the mg/ml for you. The only draw back is the fact that it does not tell you what path length it uses when measuring protein concentrations which makes it hard to double check the calculations.
