We are examining the role of innate and adaptive immune cells in disease states in large population studies. We needed a machine capable of handling 96-well plates, 8-colors plus FSC and SSC, and still be cost effective. The MQ10 does all that and more! It takes up very little bench space, is extremely user friendly, and is very affordable. In fact, this machine is saving us money compared to what we were spending to use core facilities at the university. The training was excellent, the people have been highly supportive, and the reagents are exceptional and reasonably priced. The company is willing to work with its customers to ensure that results are excellent and will custom prepare antibody cocktails to suit your needs. If you are in the market for a flow cytometer work horse, this is your machine! It also has the capability to enhance rare cells with a magnetic-bead-pre-column. Their on-line service is just a touch-screen away to answer questions or fix problems, which they can do remotely, if you'd like.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Quantifying innate and adaptive immune cells

Starting Material

Whole blood or cryopreserved cells

Protocol Overview

We use standard flow cytometry labeling protocols for T cell subsets and monocyte subsets on both fresh and cryopreserved cells.

Tips

Touch screen is a little small, so a wireless mouse works best!

Results Summary

We are in the process of analyzing 16 different types of immune cells from ~4800 samples that have been cryopreserved for up to 15 years, to examine their role in disease development. We also look at whole blood in smaller studies for monocyte subsets and endothelial progenitor cells as they relate to disease states.

Features Summary

Utilizes a variety of tubes and plates. Has a pre-column to enhance rare cells. Compact yet versatile.
