However, commercial transfer buffers feature optimized formulations that are designed to enhance the retention of proteins, such as those with low abundance. Tris-CAPS transfer buffers are commonly used for semi-dry blotting systems, while Towbin and CAPS buffers are used for protein sequencing, glycoproteins, and small proteins and peptides.
