Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is the simplest aldehyde, with the chemical formula CH2O. It is synthesized through the oxidation of methanol and is also called methanal, methylene oxide or oxymethyline. It is readily soluble in water and is often stored in liquid form as formalin, a 37% solution of formaldehyde in water.
