BUBR1 is an alias of the human BUB1B gene, which encodes the protein, BUB1 mitotic checkpoint serine/threonine kinase B. Notably, BUBR1 is known to play a role in the apoptotic pathway and cell division, among other functions. The BUB1B protein is 1050 amino acid residues in length and 119.5 kilodaltons in mass. However, as many as 3 protein isoforms have been identified. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is reported to be highly expressed in thymus followed by spleen. This protein is known to be ubiquitinated, sumoylated, acetylated, cleaved and phosphorylated.
