KNSTRN ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein kinetochore localized astrin (SPAG5) binding protein, which is encoded by the KNSTRN gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is an important component of the mitotic spindle required for faithful chromosome segregation and progression into anaphase. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid sequence of 316 residues and a mass of 35.4 kDa. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm and is reported to be widely expressed including in skin. As many as 3 protein isoforms have been reported. The KNSTRN gene has been associated with the disease, Roifman-Chitayat syndrome. Other alias names for this target include TRAF4 associated factor 1, kinastrin, kinetochore-localized astrin-binding protein, putative TRAF4-associated factor 1, and small kinetochore-associated protein.
