HM13 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein histocompatibility minor 13, which is encoded by the HM13 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze intramembrane proteolysis of some signal peptides after they have been cleaved from a preprotein, resulting in the release of the fragment from the ER membrane into the cytoplasm. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 377 residues, a mass of 41.5 kDa, and is a member of the Peptidase A22B protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER and cell membrane and is reported to be widely expressed with highest levels in kidney, liver, placenta, lung, leukocytes and small intestine and reduced expression in heart and skeletal muscle. As many as 4 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally N-glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include intramembrane protease 1, minor histocompatibility antigen 13, presenilin-like protein 3, signal peptide peptidase beta, signal peptide peptidase like 1, and minor histocompatibility antigen H13.
