Functionally, this protein is reported to be a transcription factor that binds to GC box promoter elements. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 457 residues, a mass of 50.8 kDa, and is a member of the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and is found to be preferentially expressed in testis and placenta. As many as 4 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally ubiquitinated. Other alias names for this target include CKLF, IKLF, Krueppel-like factor 5, (intestinal Kruppel-like factor, BTE-binding protein 2, and BTEB2.
