USH1C ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein USH1 protein network component harmonin, which is encoded by the USH1C gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to be an anchoring/scaffolding protein that is a part of the functional network formed by USH1C, USH1G, CDH23 and MYO7A that mediates mechanotransduction in cochlear hair cells. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid sequence of 552 residues and a mass of 62.2 kDa. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm and is reported to be expressed in small intestine, colon, kidney, eye and weakly in pancreas. As many as 5 protein isoforms have been reported. The USH1C gene has been associated with the disease, Usher syndrome. Other alias names for this target include DFNB18, DFNB18A, NY-CO-37, NY-CO-38, PDZ-45, PDZ-73, PDZ-73/NY-CO-38, and AIE-75.
