The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 927 residues, a mass of 104.6 kDa, and is a member of the Non-lysosomal glucosylceramidase protein family. It is known to be localized in the ER and golgi and is widely expressed across many tissue types. As many as 3 protein isoforms have been reported. The GBA2 gene has been associated with the disease, Spastic paraplegia.
