Anti-C8G antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein complement C8 gamma chain. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 202 amino acid residues and a mass of 22.3 kDa. It has been described to be a secreted protein. It is notably expressed in the testis. It is a member of the Lipocalin protein family. Synonyms for this target antigen include complement component C8 gamma chain, complement component 8, gamma polypeptide, and C8C. C8G gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species. Some C8G antibodies may have been used in research and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, ELISA is also a common application.
