Anti-Rtel antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the Rtel antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the RTEL1 gene, which encodes regulator of telomere elongation helicase 1. This protein is known to function in DNA repair and DNA damage pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of Rtel has a canonical amino acid length of 1219 residues and a protein mass of 133.7 kilodaltons, although 8 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus of cells. Rtel is a member of the Helicase protein family.
